In the entertainment business, there are a lot of 'me too' strategies. When the current and planned offerings of artists are a lot of Migrators, reasonable growth can be expected by all. There is no exploitation of potential growth and risks being marginalized. The more an industry is populated by Settlers and Migrators, the greater the opportunity for a Pioneer to come in and create a new un-bloodied ocean.

ARTISTS as PIONEERS, MIGRATORS and SETTLERS

An artists should always strive to be a Pioneer. Not necessarily endeavoring to be first, but, a pioneer in the sense of being the one offering exceptional unprecedented value above the rest. If not, the artist risks being marginalized [made irrelevant ] by the one(s) willing to be a Pioneer. The Migrators are in between the Pioneer and the Settler. The Migrators offer more than a Settler. They are better than most in the marketplace. However, their offerings are less than a Pioneer's. The Migrators offer improved value. But, not innovative value. The artists who are Settlers are the ones with low growth trajectory. These artists can and will make a great living.These Settler artists offer a 'me too' strategy and because of that are confined to the trap of a bloody, competitive, ocean of imitation.


For a young artist, Digital Press in and of itself is Pioneering. It offers a great new frontier for you. It increases the audience who knows you are doing something exceptional.

Artists as Migrators

The Migrators are in between the Pioneer and the Settler. The Migrators offer more than a Settler. They are better than most in the marketplace. However, their offerings are less than a Pioneer's. The Migrators offer improved value. But, not innovative value.

Artists as Settlers

The artists who are Settlers are the ones with low growth trajectory. These artists can and will make a great living.These Settler artists offer a 'me too' strategy and because of that are confined to the trap of a bloody, competitive, ocean of imitation.

Plan For the Long Road

Plan for years. Be prepared to run the marathon for at least one decade in order to have decades of success. It's The Old Way. NOT the *new way* That is THEE Way to long term success.  [That's why you start young]

Don't Be A Detractor

There will always be Detractors who are really acting as your "Directors."  As all Detractors do is DIRECT more people to you, most who you would have never known existed!

As a performer, you don't want to be a detractor. Being a detractor can land you in "performer jail." And that is where the media wants you...chained and locked inside "Performer Jail."

Performer Jail is getting attention [news coverage] for words and behavior and not your art.
Performer Jail is selling magazines, TV/radio airtime or ad space on websites and you are not selling your art; not selling albums or tickets.
